Beardsell & Sons, primarily based in Cumbria, within the United Kingdom, has developed the Universal Battle Trench, a brand new system for constructing protected and better-protected infantry battle trenches.
The programme was financed by the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl) – Materials for Strategic Advantage Programme by way of its Take Cover! name for improvements, organized by the Defence and Security Accelerator (DASA) in December 2020. Martyn Beardsell, one of many designers of the Universal Battle Trench, mentioned its growth with Janes through the DSEI 2021 exhibition, held in London from 14–17 September.
The Universal Battle Trench is designed to offer a standardised substitute for the present British four-person infantry battle trench. The current system is 7.75 m lengthy, 0.75 m vast, and 1.5 m deep. It gives two sheltered bays and two hearth bays, enabling 4 troopers to struggle and relaxation within the trench whereas shielded from small arms and artillery hearth.
