South Korea has for the primary time performed underwater ejection assessments of a regionally developed submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM) from an in-service submarine, based on native media studies.
The Yonhap Information Company reported on 7 September that the SLBM assessments, which have been carried out the earlier week by the Company for Protection Improvement (ADD) from KSS-III-class submarine Dosan An Chang-ho (pennant quantity SS 083), comply with related assessments performed in current months from an underwater barge.
The media outlet quoted unnamed army sources as saying that series-production of the SLBM, which has reportedly been codenamed ‘Hyeonmu 4-4' (additionally spelled ‘Hyunmoo 4-4'), will start as soon as a collection of extra assessments has been accomplished.
